CASP research is funded by subscriptions from the oil and gas industry.
Annual Membership Subscriptions
Membership of CASP consortium is required to participate in ongoing research and to purchase completed reports. It is also required to participate in the design phase of new scientific research and to have access to CASP resources (e.g. library, rock collections).
Project & General Research Subscriptions
Current research is organised into projects that focus on scientific problems related to geographical areas. This may be supported on a project-by-project basis by paying a Project Subscription, or by paying a General Research Subscription which gives access to all current research at a discounted rate. The General Research Subscription requires a minimum three-year commitment.
Projects are individually priced and the subscription rate is calculated on the budgeted costs and an assumed minimum number of participants. To encourage companies to commit funds at the start of the project, the subscriptions rates are increased by 20% at the halfway stage of the project and by a further 20% once the project is completed.
Subscribing companies receive hard and digital copies of reports; most data are now presented in GIS. Visits and workshops are organised during the life of a project to allow updates, feedback and interaction between subscribers’ and CASP’s geologists. In addition, companies that have paid a General Research Subscription are allocated a number of days per year of free consultation with any CASP geologist on any current or past research issue.
